Is that track really full quality?

A file that says FLAC or 320 kbps isn't always what it claims. DJ Quality Checker measures the audio itself and shows you which files are fake, upscaled or low quality — before they play on a big system.

DJ Quality Checker checking a folder of songs

What it finds

Drop a folder in. Every file gets a verdict and a reason you can read.

Fake losslessA FLAC, AIFF or WAV made from an MP3 or a stream rip.
Low qualityAn MP3 or AAC that's really 128 kbps or less, re-saved as 320.
Partly lossyAn edit or remix built partly on a lossy copy.
UpsampledAn 88.2 / 96 kHz file with nothing above 22 kHz.
Fake 24-bitA 24-bit file whose extra bits are always empty.
Clean / Real losslessThe real thing — play it with confidence.

How it works

Every MP3 and AAC encoder cuts the high frequencies off at a fixed point — about 16 kHz for 128 kbps, 20 kHz for 320. Real lossless audio goes all the way up with no hard wall.

  • Quick look at several parts of each song, then a whole-song check on anything suspicious.
  • Thousands of files at a time; results are remembered, so re-checks are instant.
  • Old or lo-fi recordings are marked Suspect, not Bad — listen and Mark as OK.
  • Bad files go to the Recycle Bin only. Nothing is ever deleted for good.
  • Export the results to a spreadsheet (CSV).

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No trial, no ads, no account.

Which formats does it check?

MP3, M4A / AAC, FLAC, AIFF, WAV and other common audio files.

Is my music uploaded?

No. Everything runs on your computer.

A song I know is good shows up as Suspect.

Some older or lo-fi recordings never had high frequencies. Listen to it and use Mark as OK — it won't be flagged again.
